Class Options in Alsine

Alsine is a unique setting, with its own martial, arcane and religious traditions.  To reflect this, certain classes have additional subclass options not found in the Player's Handbook, Xanathar's Guide and the other published 5th edition manuals (which are all available in this setting).  While many of these link to Unearthed Arcana articles to explain their mechanics, the "flavor" of the class is dictated by the descriptions in the article, rather than that contained in the Unearthed Arcana.

Artificer

The Artificer class is available in this campaign setting. You can find the details for the class at this link: Artificer

Barbarian

Chosen of Hyrsam

Limitation: Must worship Hyrsam   You have given yourself over to the Feywild and become a Chosen of Hyrsam, the Satyr King.  Infused with his magic, you are charged to return to world to its wild state, tearing down the facade of civilization which strangles nature as it was meant to be.   Chosen of Hyrsam (see Path of the Wild Soul)

Bard

College of Rhetoric

Limitation: Must be from Tokaria   From its early days as a republic, Tokaria has celebrated oratory, and even in this imperial era many of its leaders rely upon their gifts of persuasion to move their peers - and the mob - to action.  Those who aspire to political power often seek training under a master of rhetoric or enroll in one of the many Colleges of Rhetoric founded throughout the empire.     College of Rhetoric (see College of Eloquence)

Cleric

Twilight Domain

Limitation: Must be a cleric of Selûne   Not all who dwell in darkness seek evil.  Some chosen servants of Selûne are dedicated to Twilight, and live their lives in anticipation of their mistresses blessing in the time between the setting sun and the fullness of night.   Twilight Domain

Order Domain

Limitation: Must be a cleric of Dispater, Moradin, or Torm   Clerics of the Order Domain represent the rule of law and the necessity of obedience to authority.  Such clerics - and their deities - believe that civilization cannot exist without hierarchy, and even an unjust ruler is preferable to anarchy.  These clerics embody the law - often serving as magistrates, constables or even bounty hunters within their communities.   Order Domain

Druid

Servant of the Flame

Limitation: Must worship Kossuth   While other druidic orders safeguard the old forests and seek to preserve nature in a static state, Servants of the Flame understand that for new life to grow, the old must burn away.  These druids serve their master Kossuth by spreading this flaming truth.   Servant of the Flame (see Circle of Wildfire)

Druid of Selûne

Limitation: Must worship Selûne   This is a simple rename of the Moon Druid - as there is no moon over Alsine.

Fighter

Rune Knight

Mortals were not the first to harness the powers of magic.  Before men, Duergar or Elves walked the surface of Alsine, ancient powers directed the flow of magic using runes - symbols of power that shape the very weave of magic.  Warrior who study the old ways can augment their abilities with power older than the gods themselves.   Rune Knight

Monk

Order of the Phoenix

Limitation: Must worship Kossuth   Popular in Tokarian lands, the Order of the Phoenix accepts acolytes of every race and class - provided they show ability and determination. Those who survive the years of training required to become a master are able to conjure elemental fire with a breath.   Order of the Phoenix  (identical to Way of the Sun Soul, but damage type is Fire.  Enemies immune to fire are merely resistant. Enemies resistant to fire receive damage normally.

Paladin

Oath of Heroism

Limitation: None. Well suited to followers of Torm, Tempus and Lathander   Some who follow the path of the paladin do so reluctantly and out of necessity. You do so with gusto, because being a hero is what you were born to do. Each challenge along the way is another test to prove your worth - and you will pass them all. Your actions, rather than your words, will carve your legacy.   Oath of Heroism

Ranger

None specific to this setting, but Rangers are STRONGLY encouraged to look at the options in Xanathar's Guide, since they are intended the buff the class back to usefulness.

Rogue

The Revived

You have lived many lives, and died many deaths. Each time you have been returned to the land of the living - a blessing, or curse, from the mysterious Raven Queen. Her purpose for you is inscrutable. Whatever her reasons - and whatever your feelings on the matter - it seems she is not done with you yet.   The Revived

Warlock

Undying Patron

Limitation: Serves Kannoth, the Vampire Lord   Some Warlocks make pacts with devils, hoping to gain power in exchange for their soul. Others pact with the Elder beings who sleep beneath the seas, trading sanity for visions of truth beyond mortal comprehension. Your pact is much simpler - you serve to be free from death. In exchange for your capable services, Kannoth has promised you immortality - the kind only a vampire lord can guarantee.   The Undying but with the following changes:
  • You may cast Spare the Dying as a bonus action.
  • Defy Death may be used a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, resetting every long rest.
  • Your 10th and 14th level abilities change completely. You'll have to get there to find out more.
