Kossuth

Kossuth (spoken like a whispering flame) is the Lord of Light, Father of Flame and patron of knowledge and the new. His worship is passionate and requires great sacrifice - his disciples must purge their lives of clutter and unnecessary possessions, making room for his light and truth. The faith has proved popular, particularly among the lower classes. Occasionally political leaders, disconcerted by the church's message of "letting the past burn" have attempted to discourage the faith for fear that its adherents are instigators of rebellion. Such attempts have proved not only unsuccessful, but a sure way to cause the very insurrection they attempted to prevent.   Shrines and temples to Kossuth are widespread throughout Alsine. His faith is particularly popular among human cities and in orc tribes, but small shrines can also be found near Duergar smithies. Even enslaved gnomes whisper prayers to him - hoping that his teaching on the necessity of change might lead to an improvement in their lot. The church of Kossuth is best known for its monastic orders - red-robed monks with a fast, fluid fighting style as entertaining as it is deadly.

Divine Domains

Light, Knowledge

Holy Books & Codes

The Phoenix Path is the faith's seminal text. Unlike other holy texts, it contains no quote from its divine patron, but consists predominantly of philosophic musings on the nature of fire, change and truth.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

A springing flame

Tenets of Faith

"Let the old burn away that the new might rise in its place."   "Change is life. Do not flee change merely because it comes with pain, for it brings light, warmth and knowledge."

Holidays

The two great celebrations of the church coincide with the summer and winter solstices. In summer, the church celebrates the Ascendance of Flame - a wild festival replete with sacrifices, food and demonstrations of the deity's power. In winter, his followers observe the Coming of the Phoenix - a hopeful, if contemplative, holiday mourning the darkness and praying for the return of light.

Almost everything on this description doesn't fit with this "Light of Kossuth - Lord of Light, Sun and Hearth. The faith's embrace of life, vitality and expansion appeals to the imperial nature of the city, and its popularity among the people guarantee it is left alone" on the Tokarian empire page
