Aelerzodye
Origins
Founded in the year 0 A.Z., Aelerzodye represents the end of centuries of war between Humans, Tieflings, and Elves and the union of these three peoples forever more. During the Battle of Apastiar, the noble Elven general Aeler stood between the his own fellow general, Melcore, and gave his life for the Tiefling General who had surrendered. This great move of sacrifice brought about a thousand years of peace. Melcore and his 1000 followers were exiled to the Frozen Wastes. As Aeler died in the arms of the Tieflings, Humans, and Elves that surrounded him, they purposed to never again allow division to cause such destruction. They renamed the small settlement of Apastiar to Aelerzodye (Aeler's Fate), and began building it into the greatest city this world has ever seen.Expansion Through the Centuries
Under various rulers, Aelerzodye became larger and larger. Peace was a close friend to the city, and the idea of a nation of unity was loved by many idealists. Farmers gave their farmlands to the expansion, and soon the city began to stretch out. Under the tiefling ruler Hazminia that began in 487 A.Z., Aelerzodye offically built its Halfling quarter and made firm plans for the Gnome and Dwarven districts. The City of Fate Realized
By 700 A.Z, the power of the City reached its peak. The elven ruler Tal'kema Varin brought peace to a long internal conflict within Redmont, and also brought a force of Soldiers to end the invasion of the Pirate Ramilians into the Mazraea Soverignty. As Aelerzodye and its power grew, so too did the peace in the regions surrounding it. The city finalized its harbor at the South Red Sea. This opened up massive trade for the city without the need for overland travel, or reliance on the Autumn Woods or Somerly Bay. Within the city, a high standard of living existed. The rich helped with charity work, based off the beliefs of unity within the Divine Order pantheon. The unity of Sa'haniel and Tiefu was celebrated in frequent ceremonies that provided food to the hungry. The lowest person of the city could be elevated at a feast to a position of honor. Resentment between classes remained low, and many viewed things through the lens of "We are all in this together." The Tyvene Laug and the Theives Guild operated throughout the city, but were always under constant threat of detection. Many heists were attempted during this time, but only a handful succeeded. House Varin's hold on peace meant that their family retained the rights to the throne, with the exception of the Lady Hazminia IV in the year 920 AZ. Her successor would take over in 955, and become the most infamous ruler of the city: Solvaniss Varin. The Fall of Aelerzodye
Solvanis Varin ascended to the throne with the death of Hazminia IV in 955, taking the name Sovaniss for his reign. His reign was marked by many positive events, such as the peace accords between Middoryn and Dramvel, the failure of the Grand Heist of the Theives Guild, and the Great Feast of 975 that served over 50,000 residents of the City. The marriage between Sovaniss and Nularma Varin was a magnificent event in 987, but would be darkened by her death in 996. This led Varin into madness as he attempted to save his queen. After discovering the Razhot, Varin shut down the city and attempted to use its power to transfer the life essence of the citizens of the city into his wife to revive her. The Heroes of Fate intervened, stopping the ritual and killing Varin. With the death of Varin, the City fell into turmoil. Trust was low for the old houses, so no new ruler was appointed. Instead, the High Council squabbled over the direction of the city. They split the rule between themselves, and things continued on well for the next five years. In 1002 A.Z, Dramvel and Middoryn resumed their war. The Council, unable to negotiate, was placed in an obvious position of weakness. The Veiled Gnomes were the next to break off diplomatic relations with the City of Fate. Finally, in 1005 A.Z, claiming to be in retribution for a terrorist attack on Khurral Daz, the Dramvel Orcs and Veiled Gnomes formed an alliance and invaded Aelerzodye. During the months long siege, the Elven Remenants sent word for all Highborn Elves to return to their ancestrial homes. Many obeyed, leaving behind families and half-elven children who were barred from the recall. In the final month of 1005, Aelerzodye fell to the Veiled Alliance. Refugees from the city fled to neighboring countries, including Redmont and the Windcaller Accord.Aelerzodye Today
The City of Fate is under occupation by the Veiled Alliance. Some 60,000 civilians remain trapped in the city, unable to leave. The High Council has been slain, and only a few old houses remain within the city. Despite the harshness of their warriors, the Orcs have been reportedly kind to the people of the town, working on supplying their needs. Pockets of resistance exist, but no word has come in and out of the city in at least 8 months. A taskforce from Redmont was sent in to discover the status of the city and the occupation.Fate and Unity
