Paradoxologist

A Paradoxologist is someone who studies and attempts to categorize Paradoxes. Unlike standard sciences and scientists, modern paradoxologists do not attempt to explain the phenomena they study, as there is currently no verifiable unified theory that allows for more than speculation.

One of the most fundamental tools required by Paradoxologists is the G.A.T.E: An Active Paradox that nullifies the effects of most Passive Paradoxes, allowing people to enter and study them without issue.

Workplace

The primary workplace for a paradoxologist is a Passive Paradox. What this entails differs based on the paradox, but typically a paradoxologist will be stationed either inside or nearby the Passive Paradox they are currently studying. Currently, because paradoxologists are often not permanently assigned to a specific Paradox or phenomena (with one exception) and will often move from Paradox to Paradox based on new information or new technologies that emerge.

Dangers & Hazards

As paradoxologists often enter Paradoxes personally, they are often exposed directly to black holes and associated phenomena. While G.A.T.E technology was invented to reduce the risk, the technology is known to fail, often leading to severe injury or death. In fact, failed protective equipment is the number one risk of death for Paradoxologists galaxy-wide.

Legality

In the Solarian Republic, Paradoxology is considered a legal study. However, in the Second Galactic Empire, it is considered illegal without a Paradox Investigation Permit to enter, study, or approach a Paradox.
