Elysium K. Claris

Formerly a researcher in a dusty corner of a university, Dr. Elysium Claris was kidnapped by the Horsehead Pirates gang and brought aboard the pirate ship Horsehead. There, her mind was altered by the Dream Chamber into a devious, scheming pirate queen, the perfect consort for Andromeda Sharp.
As Andromeda Sharp's pirate queen, she is effectively the executive officer of the Horsehead but also mostly an extension of Andromeda's will. She is devious but not cruel, scheming but not vicious. Her role in their cruise is to use her analytical mind to find the location of the Corona Iridis, the fabled lost ship.
The one part of Elysium that the Dream Chamber and her subsequent experiences as a pirate officer have not managed to twist away is her academic integrity. She is a dedicated scholar and refuses to take shortcuts on research and to knowledge.
