The Northern Brotherhood

The Northern Brotherhood is an organization of fighters, spellcasters, rangers, and other survivalists that was originally founded in Dragon's Vale. They strive to maintain the fragile peace in the far North. The faction is separated into many small sects, each of which are performing their own operations at any given time. Each sect is composed of about 5-15 active expedition groups, and a few supporters who help supply, fund, and shelter them in Dragon's Vale. In Dragon's Vale, a significant portion of the population is connected to the Brotherhood, and the Brotherhood is a staple part of Dragon's Vale's history and culture. Founded in the year of 15,016, the Brotherhood was created in response to the destruction of many cities and villages by an unknown enemy in Aloria. Although there was no reliable accounts, the people of Dragon's Vale believed that these enemies harbored in the far North. Most of the city pooled their resources in order to send out forces to stop these incursions from happening again. Although the expeditions were unsuccessful, only killing a few yetis, winter wolves, and a very young Remorhaz, the peoples of Dragon's Vale were extremely proud of their accomplishments.
Since then, the Brotherhood refined their approach, sending out small, but effective, parties into the North for longer and longer periods of time. After a few decades, the Northern Brotherhood had almost a constant presence in the North, slaying any threats to the South, as well as attempting to create peace between the native, monstrous inhabitants (with varying degrees of success). Nevertheless, they still would often return to Dragon's Vale to re-stock, recruit, and learn of what happened in the civilized world.
As the years progressed, the Brotherhood became allied with the Cina Alliance, who similarly dedicated themselves to securing the South. Although they share similar goals and ideals, there is an important distinction between the two: the Cina Alliance is a group of combatants who patrol the North-South border, while the Northern Brotherhood is composed of survivalists and negotiators who roam into the deep North.
The Northern Brotherhood frequently felled elementals, yetis, and undead, all while still attempting to support the unsteady peace in the North. Adventurous sects have taken to delving deep into the barren and brutal Buzahaz Spires, only to come back scarred and scared, if at all. Despite their prowess at survival, the Brotherhood has yet to tame the entire North.
