Warforged Species in Almura | World Anvil

Warforged

I am sorry for these people. I invented the first of them and my followers took it to far... I am sorry Omega.

Mechanical beings with souls band to them, usually forcibly.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Warforged are usually possessed of the same bodily structure as their original bodies, which is to say generally Humanoid though variations for other forms and species exist.   Internally, Warforged are animated by Souls that are bound to them. Several exceptions exist such as the Children of Eletrias which are 100 unique warforged who possess their own souls and personalities and are not the product of anothers life force being bound within them.

Genetics and Reproduction

While Warforged are usually not capable of reproduction in a traditional sense, there are two ways that they can reproduce.   The first way is a modified version of constructing a new warforged. A body can be partially assembled, usually a metallic skeleton and basic outline of a body and then a ritual performed with the other parent in which a piece of their soul is taken and merged with a fragment of the Warforged's soul before being placed within the "Child's" Body. The ritual applies more biological traits to the partil body and fills the body with life. The result is a being who has basic awareness but does not possess any higher knowledge and must be taught in a way similar to a real child.   The other way is very uncommon and is viewed as a crime against nature. A specific potion can be brewed that temporarily give a Warforged the ability to reproduce "Naturally". The result is a child that bears similarities of both a Warforged and the other parent, though they can be very... odd natured. Such children are usually mentally off, lacking some or all emotion or have other mental issues caused by the manner of the creation. Stories exist of a version of the Potion that gurantees a normal child but this information is unknown to most.

Growth Rate & Stages

While created Warforged do not grow or noticeabley age, the offspring they produce do grow as living beings.

Ecology and Habitats

Warforged can inhabit nearly any domain, and those who are not bound by control objects often settle far from civilized peoples. Many warforged have issues with trusting organic peoples due to the unwilling nature of many of their creations.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Warforged do not require food but many of those with more advanced bodies are able to consume food and drink and retain their sense of smell or taste. Many who are capable of such are virtually indistinguishable from organic beings in mannerisms, while those who do not have this ability are often more robotic and distrustful of others.
