Paragon of the Jagged

The Aspect of Inverse, known as Rhodis in Low Athrixiaii, is perhaps the most perplexing of the Aspects. It is the only force that is not naturally present on Almata or any other Circle besides it's Aligned Circle, Rashoam. It exists as the antithesis to some of the other Aspects, embodying the opposite of heat, air, and light. Upon Almata, you cannot increase the coldness of an object, rather take away its warmth. Similarly, you cannot increase darkness nor vacuum, but instead decrease light or air. However, Rhodis is darkness, cold, and vacuum itself, manifested as particles of sorcery known as sashoam. Increasing the amounts of sashoam thus increases darkness, cold, and vacuum. The Aligned Circle of Rhodis, Rashoam, is utterly dark, cold, and devoid of air. Inverse mages first learn to protect themselves from sashoam so that they do not harm themselves simply in the act of casting a spell. As Rhodis mages progress, they learn to control which component of sashoam to channel and thus can create cold without darkness or vacuum without cold. Powerful Rhodis mages can control vast amounts of sashoam that devastate the landscape around them. It is worth noting that despite Rhodis and sashoam being inimical to conventional life, those that practice such sorcery are not inherently evil or morally compromised.
In traditional Azarian symbology, Rhodis is associated with the color maroon, while Thassacartan cultures associate Rhodis with the heptagon. Common terms for a Rhodis mage include dark mage, sazonzael, nyxaurge, and umbramancer.
