Personal history
Bismuth was born the first son to the King and Queen of the ancient empire of Aycan. During his youth he trained as a fighter alongside his soldiers. As he got older he also trained in the healing arts under the tutelage of the religious leaders. He became infamous for being able to bear the weight of heavy armor even in flight.
When he was 36 he was crowned King at his father's passing. His mother provided guidance until her passing a few years later. During this time in his life he married a Gryphon folk named Corrine and they had three children, Terra, Hathal, and Ipena.
His happiness didn't last as by the tribes of the Forsaken Mountains. They descended upon the kingdom with trained basilisks and allied medusa in a hopes to gain the fertile valleys of the empire. The war raged on for a long time and Bismuth fought alongside his soldiers. He fought until he was caught by surprise by the gaze of a basilisk. He remained petrified in the throne room while his empire fell to the enemy. He never learned of the fate of his family.
Hundreds of years passed and Aycan became a ruin with legends to keep the memory. A small city sprung up in the valley below the ruins, where the inhabitants called it New Aycan in honor of their history. During this time Bismuth's body was subject to weathering by the elements. After a particularly bad winter the roof of the throne room collapsed around him, breaking off his once beautiful wings.
Bismuth remained this way until a traveling Air Genasi named Sable came to Aycan. She cured his petrifaction and helped him adjust to the modern world. Without a kingdom to care for he became the caretaker for his new found friends.
