The Annual Revelation

Written by GMJaraxus-527

For an entire year, the Genasi monks of Sul'ran will spend their time within the Great Temple meditating in the spirit of the gods. They learn of the gods' will and of things to come in the future year. Once each year, during the Festival of the Elements, the monks will emerge from the temple and share what they learned about one individual's destiny for the coming year. Usually the revelation has implications for the nation of Sul'ban as a whole, rather than just the individual receiving the news. The monks are trained to become tuned in to the spirit of the gods at all times, and provide guidance and insight into the wishes of the divines. The Great Monks are the ones who have spent their lives in Sul'ran, training and meditating perpetually. The Great Monks become in tune with each others' spirits in the process, and present the revelation in unison.

History

The first revelation was shown to the leading monk in the Sul'ban region before the Genasi had formed an official nation. After being given a vision from the gods, the monk traveled across the entire region in search of the person he had been shown. After finally finding him and telling him the vision, the monk realized that the events described would have an impact on Genasi all across the region. He made it his quest to attempt to receive more visions to prepare his people for the things to come. He meditated for as long as he could, seeing things of the astral plane in his dreams. Exactly one year after his initial vision, he was shown a new one. Since then, he began to train other monks in his ways, connecting them with the spirit of the divines, and beginning this tradition.

Execution

During the revelation, the Great Monks will form a ring, with the Eldest Monk standing at it's center. The recipients stand before the Eldest Monk in the center of the ring, the Eldest Monk representing the voice of the gods, and the surrounding monks representing the recipient's fellow citizens standing in support of them, no matter what kind of revelation they are given.
