Silver Hand

A piece of equipment jointly developed by the Temple of Silverwind and the Selean Government. The Silver Hand is a white and silver gauntlet which can convert the wearer's quintessence into beams of Light Magic, allowing nearly anyone to use the Offensive Spell, Light Ray. The palm of the gauntlet is embedded with an Opal and a circular rune which converts the user's Quintessence into a Light Ray, which can offend a target over a distance that rivals a Rifle or modern Crossbow, often more if the user's spellcasting ability was trained.   It is designed for only one hand to be wearing the Silver Hand, while uses of two have been tested, the strain on a wielder of insufficient power can be outright debilitating, so it is generally regarded as an overly risky decision to use two. This is also due to the fact that a high-level spellcaster has little use for one Silver Hand, let alone two, for they can cast long ranged spells with no equipment at all.

Utility

The Silver Hand is a weapon that allows even the least magically inclined soldier to have a ranged weapon that can be worn and employed at any time. Being built into a Gauntlet, the Silver Hand's greatest aspect is the sheer convenience of its use.

Social Impact

The Silver Hand is still a relatively recent and uncommon weapon, but the mass production of magical weaponry has shown to be a promising evolution of Caligonia's relevance on the world stage, as well as a further advancement of Magic Theory. The mass production of efficient and easy to wield spellcasting implements shows the potential to vastly bolster the capabilities of society at large. The full extent of the impact of weapons like the Silver Hand is currently unknown.
The Silver Hand was invented in 774 AQ.
Inventor(s)
The weapon was initially designed by Maria, high priest of Silverwind about a decade after the War of the Tempest. However, the production of this weapon only gained traction due to Selea's Guilds and their resources and manpower.
