Ihan Ae
"Ihan ae the most general of the tribes, known for lack of specialisation. Not to say they are not underpowered! Not so! Why, the ihan are capable some the most upmost interesting displays Alkgnir has to offer! Not that I am biased, of course." - Matija Saša Lučić, giving an address at Queen Svetlana Jovica's coronationBeings of mathematics, ihan ae are the most general tribe. Covered by the Innihan spirit, ihan are capable of anything from near clairvoyant knowledge of the future to harnessing the rest of the spirits in the land. The ihan ae are a jack of all trades tribe, dictated by the laws of mathematics and statistics. Ihan ae tend to fall into two categories, one that remain within their spirit, using probability and statistics to make precise calls around them. Many ihan ae have a degree of risk assessment or even prophetic statements, whether that be large scale divination on the future or split second, pin point accurate calls on the enemy's reaction in battle. The other - and fair more common manifestation of ihan - is more conceptual. Using their prowess over mathematics and formula they are far more adapt at making sense and harnessing the other unruly spirits of the land, taming them into forms that make sense and are quantifiable. It is far more unlikely for a ihan ae to become a stormchaser from minor spirits and it is generally more accepted in the culture - although by proxy of this comfortability, they are the most common. It is worth stating that the manipulation of mathematics does not go as broad as to change concepts like gravity. While the overlap between physics and mathematics is present, physical concepts are frequently covered by other spirits. An additional subsect of ihan ae focus on design. While far more complex, so frequently taking a lot more study, some are able to harness the spirits of the mind (or simply mathematically recreate them) to create semi sentient automatons. These range from basic constructs following one or two instructions (like Matija's boxes) to personal butlers and servants built to follow highly specialist routines. Rumours have begun to circulate of fully conscious creations, acting, behaving, and speaking like living beings. The ihan ae terrioritory is one of the largest territories, boasting 6 major settlements. The most predominant of this is Buska, the largest settlement in all of Alkgnir - and the only one to boast a monarchy. Currently ruled by Queen Svetlana of the Jovica dynasty, the Jovicas have been in control since 691, seizing power after a storm devastated most of the city. These days, Buska is a large city with most the trappings. Some of city includes some of the most high-value, luxury areas in Alkgnir, while much of Buska is famous for it's tramped streets and criminal underbelly. Moska is the most northern city, being the most common point of contact for the elusive heskyn tribe. through Moska is the only way too access the Vorje Pass, the easiest access route to Reyiniiar, the border city for the Heskyn. To the south - through an area known as Naumov's Pass, is the three other settlements of Alkgnir. First is Relka, most noted for currently being home to the eccentric genius Matija Saša Lučić. Relka is modest town, boasting a varied history, but now remains a small town based largely around fishing and hunting. Relka used to be a lot larger when the area was used frequently as a stop to travel to Maríos and other Vulaeun territories. Since the fires, traffic has slowed, and Relka has become a rather sleepy town by result. Next is Stalnevo, a port town to the south west of the continent. Stalnevo is always lively, and features a much bigger population the Relka. Stalnevo not only happens to be a port town to Yulca, but also includes frequent passage to Mávros, one of the coral reef settlements of the Nahmy. Lastly is Vasleva, a city that before was small border town but now has seen as sudden population increase thanks to the Vulaeun fires displacing most of the surviving Vula population. Vasleva has had a rocky period with the sudden population increase, many vula still remain in poorly made housing around the city. The Innihan spirit emerged in 271, and quickly outcompeting both Heskddigthr, Ingrithid, Boreas spirits in Jorvingr. History states this lead to a series of storms and the compete abolishment of the tribe associated with Boreas - so early in history, not much is known about them. Ihan ae history is littered with storms - and rather unique to them - notable storm chasers. One of the most infamous individuals is the Amber Witch, the first of the witch-blooded storm that came to purpurate the land. Witch-bloods were said to sports impressive fangs and a fearsome appetite for blood, and the causing spirit is still a mystery. These days, witch-bloods are rarely sighted, but "witch-blooded" remains a very charged insult.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Ihan ae are the most standard within Alkgnir. While some tribes have the option to slide within conventional appearances of a human but ihan have that as the default. While many augment themselves, harnessing the same capabilities that lead them to create artificial life, most remain as we would recognise them.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
"Ihan have an uneasy ability to see things that others cannot. I remember once I was talking to a man when his eyes rolled back into his head, before he came back to me and told me how to get home. A tree would fall on the path I orginally walked. He was right, it saved my life. And yet we are told we're the creepy ones." - Sóley Sigurðsson a book-keeper working in Moska speaking on her feelings about living and working amongst the ihan. While ihan ae mostly have standard abilities to most other tribes, this differs in two ways. First, manifestations of a pre-cognizant. This largely comes down to the design of the ihan involved, but frequently occur in an incredibly strong instinctive knowledge: but some have had it manifest in a voice, sight, or even full flashforward to the consequences.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Ihan ae often follow [first name] / [middle name] / [last name]. In this culture, first name and middle name are treated of equal weight, the first name usually being the person's unique name and their middle name being some kind of blessing. The meaning of the middle name is usually a sign of well wishes of from the parents, passing down a quality, a trait, or something they'd like their child to develop. It's not uncommon for ihan ae to change their middle name throughout the course of their life to remain true to themselves, but some will keep it as a sign of respect to their parent's original wants. Alike pirigs, last name of family actually carries some weight within ihan ae cultures, but can also be adopted by many people. Family is looser in many ihan ae areas, and too adopt someone's surname may not be a sign of romantic entanglement but instead a strong friendship, or even employment, to a particular family. Frequently families can reach 40-50 people, with only about 20 of those people being blood related.
"Y'know, it gets confusing. You meet Vedad Adna Demirović, and then you meet a Džejla Ajša Demirović and they're dating. Fine. And then you find a Nermin Mirsada, also Demirović, and they're siblings. And then two doors down you find another Demirović two doors down. And they're just FRIENDS!" - Maise Porco, a particularly stressed pirig working for Post Haste expressing her frustrations.
Cultural Hints
Ihan ae tend to borrow from Russian, Serian, Bulgarian, and Bosnian for names.
