District of Arcton

Nestled on the western side of the Southlands, Arcton is the most religious of the Human districts.  Headed by Elder (TBD), the entire district revolves around making sure the God of Light is revered.  The people's of Ashton fall into one of two main categories, those that support the district, and those that tolerate the district.  There is no such thing as dissent in the District.  it is stamped out and dissenters are either forcibly removed, or they disappear after intensive questioning.  There's a known headquarters in the center of the district that people are known to enter, and never leave.  Demi-humans are STRONGLY suggested to stay out of the district.  Safety there is not guaranteed.  
With a religious demeanor, the district actually performs quite well.  The streets are generally clean, crime is low, and the quality of life is pretty good, even for the lower castes of society.  Begging is against the philosophy.  There is always work that can be done, even by the invalid, and those that refuse to work are given an option to leave the district or the Work Committee will forcibly make sure to find SOME use for you.  Any belligerent enough to downplay the seriousness of the district pay the price..  sometimes for years.
Citizens ALSO pay the price for the quality of living in Arcton.  The District of Arcton houses the largest contingent of the Order of Judgement.  The Order of Judgement makes up most of the police force and security within the district.  Every household within the district must provide one member of the family to the Order for the Order's use.  It is an honor that most take highly.  Both women and men are accepted, and the more members that are members, the higher status / ranking within the society.  Members of the Order of Judgement is a life long commitment.  New recruits will join at their name-saking ceremony at the age of sixteen, and will generally be seen by family once or twice a year.
The Acrton District abuts several other districts for travel and trade.  Unlike others, the Arcton district is stricter in what is allowed within their confines.  Red meat is considered sacrilegious to most of the district, and most recreational drugs and brothels are considered taboo.  Drinking is allowed, but anything in excess can find oneself on the bad end of a work train in the morning.  A month or two of hard labor cures even the WORST hangover for a long, long time.
Outside of the district, Arcton individuals will behave like any others.  Some will keep their ways with them till they die, while others will shed the repression of the District as soon as they leave the gates.  There are several brewhouses and a well known brothel sitting right outside the District gates whose patronage is largely Arcton.  For all but the highest level of the district, if it partakes outside the district, it doesn't exist; meaning that people will enjoy life outside the district, and benefit from the discipline and security within it.
