Danomii take the names of their clan as last names. This causes a lack of diversity in the last names of Danomii as there are only a handful of clans remaining.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

The language of the Danomii was outlawed by the crown around 700AO. They adapted by using a blended language of Ghastic and Danomiic when talking to others of their clan, which consists of using Ghastic words that sound the most similar to Danomiic. This of course sounds like absolute nonsense to non-speakers, or the attempts of foreigners to learn the local language.

Shared customary codes and values

The Danomii hold the gods and clan above all else, actively rejecting the authority of the Ossics. This tense relationship has waxed and waned over the centuries, from the purges of the 11the century to the relative peace held currently.

Historical figures

Dandiyomay: The namesake of the Danomii. She lead the people from the west across the great oceans, landing their ships up the coasts north of the Zweire mountains. She lead her people on a spiritual journey, hoping to travel the lands of the Sonil to seek enlightenment from the gods. But her people never made it to their promised land. She was killed shortly before reaching Alghast by the barbarians of the Traum. The survivors fared no better in the Ossic Kingdom. Forced into ghettos and stripped of much of their culture. The Ossics actively restrict the Danomii, ensuring that they never make it to the lands of Old Sonil.
St. Yanno, Patron of Travelers: Yanno was the first of the Danomii to convert the Ossic faith. He was executed by a mob of Danomii when he declared his pulic conversion the faith. He is now considered the patron of all the Danomii, whether they want to accept him or not.
