King Yohan Harnell was born in 785 BYD, and led the human rebellion against The Dragon Queen, and was the first and only king of The Kingdom of Harnell. He died fighting a restored Dragon Queen in 730 BYD.

Personal history

Yohan Harnell was born 785 BYD, the older of a pair of twins, being born roughly two minutes before his younger brother Jodan. A charismatic young child, he dreamt secret dreams of becoming a mighty knight and freeing the people of West Algaress from the tyranny of the Dragon Queen and her children. Unfortunately for Yohan, such dreams would not come to be, as there were no true knight orders within the region, The Dragon Queen having stomped them out centuries before, seeing them (correctly) as a threat to her rule.
Instead, Yohan trained as a warrior, enlisting in the Queen's army as soon as he was of age. This won him the ire of his brother Jodan, who saw this as abandoning his principles and their way of life. Yohan's talent with a sword was soon to be unmatched, he excelled in swordplay and leadership training, eventually being offering a command in charge of two dozen soldiers. This command grew until he eventually rose to a command of over a thousand men, second to Mackroo the Red, a half-dragon priest and one of the Dragon Queen's many loyal children.
Mackroo led his troops into battle personally, and the dragon's war with the elves would prove to be his undoing. At the Battle of the Red River, as it would later be named, Mackroo was slain, not by elven archers or their potent magics, but a sword in the back during a heated battle, wielded by Yohan. Laying down the banners, he ordered the men to retreat and slay the remaining dragonkin among them, then surrendered himself to the elves. Taking him to the High Wizard, Daeron Havidhill, they orchestrated the beginning of the rebellion. The elves supplied the troops with new weapons and fresh supplies, and gifted Yohan with a magical sword, Dragon's Bane, a mithral sword with special dragon slaying qualities.
Coordinating his efforts with the elves of Samblar, Yohan marched north, intent on freeing the Dwarves of the Mountain Kingdom, who had seen been besieged in their mountain home since the arrival of the dragons. He moved from village to village, slaying the dragon rulers as they ran across them, and recruiting those who were willing. His actions however, had consequences.
Soon after learning of Yohan's betrayal, the Dragon Queen visited his home village personally, burning it to the ground, slaying man, woman, and child alike. Thankfully, his brother Jodan escaped, marshaling the tribespeople of the Northern Lands into the rebellion, and met Yohan for the first time in years, an army of fierce barbaric warriors at his command. With their combined forces, they broke the siege of the mountain and Yohan slew The Dragon Queen in single combat.
