Not much is known about The Black King, even in religious circles or by historians. Worshiped by sociopaths and the insane, an occasional cult or worshiper might pop up, but there is no organized worship or true clergy. His goals are unclear, but he seems to have an appetite for destroying worlds and covering them in darkness, as this fate has befallen: Dragonsvale, Jannat, and Yudath.
It is also known that The Black King is the one that caused The Year of Darkness, which nearly destroyed the world of Algaress. A far lesser known fact is that he was sealed away by the combined magical power of: Alexis Ironston, Amaya Stonetree, Asmodeus, Marcanath, and Sarah Watchman. These five sealed him away in his divine realm, and he cannot leave it. However, to get Asmodeus and Marcanath to cooperate, they entered into a pact: They would each retreat to their own planes, and be confined there. Should any of them leave their divine realm, the seals keeping The Black King in place would be broken. This restriction was put in place because Asmodeus and Marcanath wished to be left alone, and was tired of warring with the three Magi.
Though sealed away and unable to manifest himself physically into other worlds, The Black King continues to sponsor divine spells for his worshipers, and is known to be able to change peoples dreams into nightmares. It is known that one who is unlucky enough to be trapped in The Black King's nightmare realm, if they die in the nightmare, they will die for real.
