Kingdom of Almas
A tiny but powerful island separate from the main continent of Umor, they have no magic, but remain a military force to be reckoned with as they have advanced their technology, having developed guns, cannons, and even flying ships from their mastery of alchemy.
History
When the magic of the world forsook the tiny island of Almas hundreds of years ago, the small island nation had to improvise quickly, or face losing its independence to one of the much larger nations of the continent. No one knows why magic disappeared from this land, but it hasn't come back, even as the years have passed. Thankfully, the people there have made due. Without being reliant on magic, they turned their pursuits to making discoveries of a technological nature, though the exact details of these discoveries are known to few outside the island.
The biggest (And most well known) discovery however, was the creation of gunpowder. The vast majority of gunslingers and alchemist's hail from Almas, and the nation keeps tabs on all who walk the way of the gun, sometimes even removing those who fall out of their favor. Very protective of their secrets, they have strict policies to keep outsiders out, though many still flee there to try to escape the wrath of vengeful mages.
