Dunkelheit

Description:

Not a specific land or location, but rather a state that land and locations can reach. The land becomes a dark crimson or magenta, with all plant life dying out and unable to grow. The sky is a deep red with cracks extending across the sky, emitting from a hole in the sky, placed right over the sun that looks like a baseball thrown through a window. Not to mention all light being dim, everything being colored darker than its normal color, as well as the constant feeling of dread hanging over any land corrupted than the Dunkelheit.
Any animals within this land will either die out or become a violent, corrupted, and very dangerous variant, and any dark creatures within the area are strengthened, making even weak demons a little concerning to even the strongest heroes. Creatures of the light within this region will be weakened, have a constant fear over them, and have the worst nightmares given to them in their sleep. Dark creatures revel in the Dunkelheit, enjoying its feeling and wishing for it to spread across the entire world. Temptations in this land are also much stronger, making it much easier to turn a hero to a villain.
From outside Dunkelheit, on the ground, the cursed land appears to have a very thin, red veil hanging around it, as if hanging from the top of the sky. And from high above, the land appears almost painted over, an ugly red splotch on the earth.  The effect of Dunkelheit only works past the visible veil, and two thousand feet up from the nearest portion of corrupted ground.
It spreads slowly over time, but being able to speed up the more heinous sins are committed and dark magic practiced, as well as being able to speed up if Dark-Energy is pumped into the land. The land can only be created by the leader of the demons (currently Uscilis), and must reach a certain size (usually will involve the leader of the Homo Saurus / Demons spending two whole days creating Dunkelheit) before it can sustain itself rather than dwindle away to excitation, since the Earth's Heart tries to fight back against it as much as possible (which is the reason it takes so long to get it to a sustainable state). Also, any neutral creatures (Homo Gigas / Giants, Homo Sapiens, Dwarves, Draconics, Orcaligths, to name a few) that die within Dunkelheit, so long as its large and strong enough, will come back from death (after a week of their corpse residing within Dunkelheit) as  Scourgers. The Homo Saurus / Demons will capture victims, kill them in Dunkelheit, then once they turn, put them in cages and save them for when they can release them in a city to infect it with Scourgers and prevent the city from ever regrowing.
