Description: Around the year 150, the city of Dungmoor (formerly known as Dianmoor) decided to secede from Amoria (Country), which was the only human kingdom on the continent. See War of Division for more information.
Claims
The Ragnarites made a few claims to back their decision: Amorians were treating the other races of the land (orcs, tieflings, goblinoids, etc.) unfairly; they were too far from the capital to remain under its influence and domain; and they wanted to be independent and connected with the other continent on their own terms.
Amoria claimed that the continent needed to be unified and always had been (historically, this is unfounded, but they stuck to their claim secession would only cause further issues later on; and that the trade lost was worth fighting to keep a unified continent.
Conflicts
The war raged furiously in these times. Karn Ugluk and Karn Ugmoor, both Orcish settlements beforehand, began to grow into towns, with Karn Ugmoor becoming a city and capital of the Ragnarites. Thus, the orcs joined the Ragnarite forces in battle, which made the conflict more bloody and rage on for over 100 years.
Over the course of the battle, arcane powers on both sides began to notice that the affects of their abilities seemed to alter the landscape. Something about the land itself was reacting negatively to the arcane. Thus, the Collective of Ragnar has seen its lands decay over time. The destruction of Darkmoor was one of the final straws to see the reduction of magical powers in battle in the means and degrees seen beforehand.
As time went on, the Collective of Ragnar grew in power and desired to move West. What once began as a conflict for independence turned into a fierce land-grab by the Ragnarites, and Amoria turned to the defensive. Nilelpis became a significant base of operations in this time in holding the Ragnarites back.
A Third Nation Appears
Toward the end of the War of Division (History, Overview > War of Division), the developing and rapidly expanding town of Anon on the West coast began to lose interest in sending soldiers to fight in a war they had no interest in, and moreover, as an expanding town and nearly a city, they wanted independence from Amoria without the hassle of igniting a second war (for they did not hate Amoria, but merely wanted to be independent). Thus, they decided to make a deal with the Beholden Throne. They would assist Amoria (Country) until the War of Division was concluded, but then secede from Amoria to become their own independent state. The deal was struck, as Amoria did not want to fight a war on two fronts, and thus the established independent nation of Freeton (Country) began.
Talks over
Pathten never officially concluded, with both sides assuming they owned the small but growing town. Tensions have been present over the town, but diplomatic relations by the mayor have usually kept full on war at bay for the time being.
