The Stormwatch

To outsiders, the Everstorm is little more than an inconvenience when sailing through the ring of islands that is Arpago. to the Stormwatch, it is the subject of admiration, fear and even worship.

Mythology & Lore

It is told in the histories of Arpago that during the age of primordials the sky and the earth were at war, with the sea intervening to stop the conflict. The primordial of storm was never satisfied with its end of the deal and wanted to at least remain close to the primordial of the sea, ever vigilant of any malice by the primordial of earth. What was originally a single mass of land over eons became shaped by the primordials into the ring of Arpago, with the everstorm at the center.

Divine Origins

During the early ages of the mortal races, when beastfolk and humans first settled Arpago they came into contact with the fish-folk who taught them their ways of society and the warning signs of the moving storm. In time, with the progress of Arpagian societies, the role of the stormwatch grew in its influence, the knowledge of the gods and primordials who first made the everstorm and governed its movements became a closely guarded secret shared only between the chosen few.

Cosmological Views

The pantheon of the seventh age does not include the primordial gods in it, and the Stormwatch attributes the existence of the Everstorm to the Stormkeeper. Some more extreme believers hold the idea that at the center of the infinite hurricane lies a paradisiacal island, a remnant of the fractured land that created the rest of Arpago. The Everstorm is also said to be the source of all wind, though the faithful of the Giver of Wings in Nurasti would disagree.

Tenets of Faith

The storm brings destruction, but also prosperity, its blessings and curses are to be accepted as a temporary part of the great cycles of the world.   The guidance of those who travel the turbulent seas near the Everstorm is always righteous, even if the intentions of the traveler are not.
