Epheans are the most common, 'original' type of
Humans. Epheans live in the continent of
Ephea , mainly on the eastern coast and the flatlands until the borders of Drakthirr and the Ephean mountain range. Before the expansion of the
The Human Empire, Epheans were the only kind and variant of humans, adapted to moderate climate. The term 'Ephean' is just used to classify humans and is generally not used in a dialogue or discussion. Instead, the term 'Humans' generally refers to the humans from Ephea.
Sometimes the word Epheans also refers to other sentient creatures living in Ephea, and not just humans. However, the use of this word in this context is rather unusual.
Appearance
Epheans represent the 'classical' humans. They measure roughly between 5-6 ft. and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds. Usually, Epheans have light skin and no restriction to natural hair- and eye colors.
History
The history of Epheans is in general similar to the
History of the Humans.
Culture
Religion
Just like
Lusitanians, Epheans honor the
The Pantheon of the Twelve-Gods. In Ephea itself, most of the beliefs are standardized, and only very few regional differences exist after all.
Because of the simplicity of the Twelve-Gods Pantheon, some spiritual Epheans like clerics or paladins tend to choose one of the old gods as their patron.
Subdivision
The
Humans in
Ephea can be divided into two smaller territorial subgroups, the humans from
Lionstone and the Humans from
Freeland. These two types have a constant mutual conflict going on, which erupted into certain civil wars and other military activities. The humans from Freeland emerged from a rebellion against the human Empire in 444 b. BF and is rejecting the authority of the king of all humans. They count as rebellious, modern, and maybe even a bit chaotic, trying to hold norms and values perfectly opposite to those from the humans from Lionstone. With King
Lawrence Brimstone claiming the throne in 0 BF, he tried to unite all humans under one banner, attempting to approach the lifestyle of these Epheans. Nowadays, there has been some kind of a swap of places, the 'Empire' now counting as a mighty, but peaceful, tolerant nation and the humans from Freeland being seen as aggressive, military, and combative.
