Only in the end, as it was said that the Gods took part in the conflict, and not all on the same side, the Trojan lands were destroyed by the sheer power of the Gods, to the point that Life could no longer develop, or with grand difficulties and rarity.   Following this catastrophy, the Olympians decided to retire themselves from this very plane of existence. Thus, the The Godly Departure happened.

    Athena and Poseidon quarreled over whom shall be the protector of the newly founded city in the Attique. Zeus decided to make Cecrops, the regent of the city, choose. In order to do so, each god offered a gift: Poseidon created a water source and provided a black stalion. Athena on the other hand, simply offered an Olive Tree. King Cecrops decided to submit the choice to the entire population: the very first democratic vote. Men wanted the stalion for war, and women wanted the tree for its various properties and advantages. Legends says that ; because the women were the many, and the men the few, Athena was declaredpatron of the newly Athens. Legends also says that, Poseidon, being a sore loser, flowded the entire Attique. To appease him, the right for the women to vote were asbolished. Convenient eh ?
