Holders

Holders are the most plentiful source of magic in the universe, ancient symbiotic technology created by the Ancient Aberrations that can bend the laws of physics. Holders use arcane energy different from any power gifted by dieties or from racial connections to the world: holders seem to be powered entirely by the evolution of the wearer and the completion of internalized goals of the wielder. Holders can be anything: high tech swords, shields, laser guns, a monocle, a staff, a steering wheel. Anything can be a holder, they just seem to be some sort of symbol-like objects from the aberrations and they meld in some ways to whoever first finds them.

Symbiotic Tech

Holders are extremely unusual in that they seem to possess very limited organic-like sentience inside their very variable technological shells. When they are first activated by making physical contact with a sentient, they appear almost rubbery and often very bland looking, but over time they grow and expand in appearance until they provide powers to the wielder.
