Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins are the dark side of the IFAIR police force of Aldyn, born into the force, serving until death. They have red faces often covered by metallic masks, bodies covered in armor and cloaks, hiding every part of their body except their yellow, hollow eyes.

Government Owned

Hobgoblins are the major race that is within the IFAIR police force. Almost all Hobgoblins are born in the IFAIR military bases, especially the major base of operations on Garush. Hobgoblins are chipped at birth and go through an intense training program that involves seperation from family, memory removal torture, and extreme physical endurance tests. They're trained to be brutal, to attack first and ask questions later.

Distrusted

Some Hobgoblins do escape this life in the law, but it's rare and difficult. Their recognizability often leads to issues when recognized as non-IFAIR operatives. Few Hobgoblins are ever seen outside of their armor, and there's rumors that taking it off would kill them, but many argue wearing them is just another kind of death.

  • Alignment. Hobgoblin society is built on fidelity to a rigid, unforgiving code of conduct. As such, they tend toward lawful evil.

  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Sunlight Sensitivity. You have disadvantage on attack rolls and Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of the attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight (note that this is not applicable when in IFAIR armor).
  • Martial Training. You are proficient with two martial weapons of your choice and with medium armor.
  • Extreme Force And Extreme Prejudice. You are trained in quick and brutal combat to stop uprising. You can shove as a bonus action. Additionally, when attacking a prone enemy, you can add your proficiency modifier to the damage.
  • Saving Face. Hobgoblins are careful not to show weakness in front of their allies, for fear of losing status. If you miss with an attack roll or fail an ability check or a saving throw, you can gain a bonus to the roll equal to the number of allies you can see within 30 feet of you (maximum bonus of +5). Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Hobbish.
