The Seven Heavens of Mount Celeste

The Seven Heavens of Mount Celeste are the seven regions that one may visit should they ascend the great height of Mount Celeste: Lunas, Mercurius, Venus, Soleil, Metatron, Joviar, and the Radiant Throne of Chronos.

Geography

  • Lunas: A colossal island city built at the base of Celeste, a dark night sky filled with stars reigns over this bottom layer, surrounded by the near-endless ocean of the Silver Sea, letting the stars glitter within its mirror surface. The mountain path starts at the rear of the city, ascending to the further layers once one climbs its summit. Hound and lantern archons as well as other celestials reside here, along with some strange aquatic elves born of the silver sea. This layer is ruled by the stern, dark blue-winged Archangel Barachiel, aided by the twin stewards of Lunas: Arqueros the Shield and Julera Thrice-Crowned the Herald, commanding a great trumpet that warns any and all of an attack at the walls of Lunas.
  • Mercurius: Golden Mercurius stands as the second layer, the sky turning lavender then gold as one changes from Lunas to this part of the realm. The sun appeared to always be at dawn, bathing Mercurius' rolling hills, cutting rivers, and green-covered valleys in endless golden light. A number of mausoleums of slain celestials also reside here, with Mercurius also serving the second purpose as the gathering grounds for Celeste's heavenly armies in times of war. The gods Torm and Bahamut hold their domains here, and as such, the layer has no formal ruler due to their sharing of its contents.
  • Venus: Known as the Pearly Heavens, the sky turns from gold to the pinkish warmth of pearl overlooking the Green Fields, filled with lush, verdant land, crops, meadows, moors, hills, and rolling countryside. These mountains stand smooth and round like hills in comparison to Mercurius' sharp, jagged peaks, and many come here to rest and live simple lives tending to the realm. No one rules this realm formally.
  • Soleanna: Otherwise known as the Electrum Gates, this layer had a sky that glowed like burnished silver. Its valleys are enveloped in silvery mist, fog, and strange scents while its peaks were home to numerous holy shrines, including monasteries and magnificent cathedrals controlled by demigods. Many of the slopes were rich in precious ores and minerals and were mined by populations of divine dwarves that resided there. Some also come to meditate and think about ascetic thought, while this layer also houses pacifists and gentle souls. While Moradin and the Mordinsamman have their divine realms residing within this layer, it is protected and ruled over by the calm, serene, cyan-winged Archangel Sophia.
  • Metatron: With a sky not too different from Soleanna's, Metatron was home to vast plains and savannahs that served as the training and mustering grounds for paladins and other lawful good servants. With a sky not too different from Solania's, Mertion was home to vast plains and savannas that served as the mustering grounds for paladins and other lawful good servants. Black obsidian mountains hold up ancient citadels that ring with the sound of training celestial soldiers. The ruler of Metatron is the righteous, golden-winged Archangel Raziel, one of the celestial paragons of the archons and patron of paladins.
  • Joviar: The sixth layer, Joviar, was known as the Glittering Heaven or the Heaven of Gems. Its hills were studded with massive crystals and precious gemstones that glittered in the light, its sky a constant aurora of gemstone colors that change based on the region you go to. A seemingly unending ziggurat was the home of the Jovarian archons and guarded the entrance to the seventh heaven, known as the heavenly city of Yesteria. The stones that made up the city were made of precious gemstones, similar to those seen around the surrounding hills. On the topmost terrace was the bridge formed of pure light, where the portal to the topmost layer of Celestia, Chronos, is located. It is guarded by a powerful solar named Xerona who judges who is allowed to enter.
  • Chronos: Chronos, also known as the Illuminated Heaven, was the seventh and final layer of Mount Celestia, little being known of its structure because nothing was ever recorded by the few who had visited and returned. Legends said that Chronos was so good and lawful that it glowed of its own accord and any who entered had all evil and neutrality burned out of them, leaving them inherently good if they survived. Other than that, the ruler of Chronias was Zaphkiel the Watcher, the first archon created.
