Lord, Highmind Iavhoxas (a.k.a. Io, Vhoxas, Vox, Diamond Eye)

Iavhoxas, otherwise known as Iavhoxas the Diamond Eyed, is an Illithid Arcanist and Wizard who existed from the Age of Makers all the way up to the Age of Restoration as a mastermind of a number of horrible acts and occurrences within the world of Aldris. His ultimate goal was revenge against the Elder Brain of his old Illithid Hive, for kicking him out and scarring him when he discovered arcane magic and how useful it could be towards their goals. Wielding a powerful staff, he has aligned himself with many evil entities and has perfected his Cloning Measure, which ensures that he always survives.

Personal history

Iavhoxas once served faithfully to the Elder Brain of the Hadrian Hive, but managed to be broken free of his hold upon the discovery of old ruins and magical tomes. The innate magical energy within them allowed him a semblance of freedom from the group thought of his hive, and he believed that the use of this magic could better the wishes of the Elder Brain and all Mindflayers: to return to the surface and rule the world once more, as well as take to the stars to hunt down their Gith traitors.
He was met with disdain and torture at the hands of the other Illithids by the Elder Brain, who abhorred Arcane Magic and viewed it as a low practice in comparison to the powerful psionic magics of the Illithids. His eye was torn out in hopes of stripping him of seeing such mongrel lore, but in the end he used his elementary knowledge of arcane magic to break free and escape before he could be fully blinded, consumed, and remade. He fled up towards the higher surfaces of the Underdark, where he was discovered by a small surviving group of subterranean races: the Derro, Duergar, and Drow. Using his new powers he enslaved each of these new foundlings to serve him and began to go on a proper hunt for arcane sources of power.
One such exploration took him to a small Kaislian village, during the Age of Makers, where he would discover there to be a powerful Arcanist whose mind he could take for its knowledge. Seeing an opportunity for more labor as well, he took all of the town's denizens by use of opening up a portal to the Underdark, which drew them all inside right off the ground. After consuming the mind of the Arcanist, Iavhoxas was given more knowledge and began to conduct experiments for the next ages of millennia, capturing all manner of the subject to experiment and test on: from the divine arms forged by the gods to the soul-eating daemons that Tharizdun himself unleashed during the Near End.
Eventually, research and quiet monitoring of the outside world would bring him to the ancient ruin of a Mage Lord's tower beneath the earth, where he would find a laboratory found of research into psionic magic that matched his own in a flipped manner. Inside of the laboratory, he would also discover a brain resting within a jar, and it spoke to him telepathically with a common goal in mind. It revealed itself to be "Theloneous Thrall", a Mage Lord whose brain was saved after his body was destroyed by his Construct Protector, who was also in stasis beside him. Together they struck a deal: Iavhoxas would aid Thrall in collecting Kaisilian artifacts and helping regenerate him a new body, and Thrall would teach him the highest tier of magic he knew.
