Gith

The Gith are a race of people once native to the Material Plane, enslaved by the Illithids alongside the Derro and Duergar as a servitor race. However, they were rallied and freed by a unifying leader who sacked the Illithids and drove them to the stars and further into the Underdark. This leader, named Gith, would become the guiding force to lead the races until they were split by philosophical differences: the war-like and vengeful Githyanki, and the inward-looking and wise Githzerai.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Gith have a humanoid body with yellow, sallow skin and warm-color tones. They also have thick scale-like membranes over their elbows and cheek bones that provide added protection.

Genetics and Reproduction

Gith do not age in their normal habitat of the Astral Sea and the Far Realm, and must voyage to the Material Plane and other realms in order to age and procreate to further their numbers. As such, they have created numerous outposts for Gith to perform these acts.

Ecology and Habitats

Gith are native to the Astral Sea, the Far Realm, and other alien planes. They once served the Mindflayers so some even reside deep within the Underdark as well.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Gith mostly exist within the Astral Sea and Far Realm but often venture into the Material Plane to age, train, procreate, and engage in other acts that require aging and the passing of time. Some Gith are known for voyage into the Material Plane to raid and pillage from those they come across.
