Sir Azurin Malavoz Sacrovarius (a.k.a. Az, Zurin)

Sir Azurin Sacrovarius, otherwise known as Azurin Oathsunder, Azurin of the Sorrows, and Forlorn Azurin, is a Death Knight that resides within the realm of Aldris. Personal history

Azurin's father Ozar Sacrovarius, was a powerful Mage Lord and ruler over his own kingdom of which Azurin was the crown prince above his two brothers. However, seeing the cruelty enacted upon his subjects by his father and those who served him, he proceeded to run away and leave his crown and title behind. Travelling the world for a while and seeking to battle against those who fed or lived off of the tyranny of the Mage Lords, he eventually found himself joining the Irons Oath after meeting a warrior knight of the Raven Queen named Liádan, who saved him from causing a tavern brawl against the enforcers of another mage lord, Thrall.   Liádan trained and saw Azurin knighted, and despite their rocky start in their relationship, fell in love with one another and soon became married, heralding the end of the Mage's Tyranny as husband and wife before settling down and having two children together, twins Varus and Vaya. However, in time Azurin was confronted with his own mortality upon a final visit with his dying father, knowing he would eventually watch his wife and even children grow old while he would remain young and powerful.   This sparked a sudden obsession with discovering how to turn his wife and children immortal, an endeavour that would see him scour the world and slowly descend into a madness and fear that he had never experienced. It was only a matter of time before he was drawn towards magical arcane knowledge, parcelling through the remnants of destroyed arcane lore that his order had burned or hidden away. In time, the order began to know of his obsession, prompting him to cease his venture and even having his own wife told him that her end was to come as it would naturally, so was the way of the god she worshipped.   Eventually, this led to Azurin discovering a powerful dark wizard hidden away in the depths of the world: Azalin Rex, an arcanist from an age even older than that of the Age of Divinity, and one of the first heralds of arcane magic. He taught Azurin magic that defied the will and power of the gods themselves in exchange for service, providing Rex with powerful relics and eventually devolving into killing those who would come to see his search as dangerous, or those who posed a threat to himself and to Azalin.   In time, after slaying all number of the innocent, attacker, and even some of his own Oathbrothers and Oathsisters, Azurin was confronted by his own wife Liádan, and ordered to stop absorbing teachings from a person that treated the balance of life and death like a game, whose time had come long ago. He refused, and the two argued until eventually, Liádan heard the orders of her god to slay her husband, to prevent him from causing all manner of calamity for her and for the balance itself. She struck Azurin through the chest with her blade and killed him, mourning her loss to the point that she nearly took her own life if not for the thought of her own children, who needed her now that their father was gone.   Azalin found Azurin's body and bought him back to life using his magic as a powerful death knight. Broken by his wife's betrayal and refusal to see his ways, Azurin forsook his vows as an agent of the gods and allowed Azalin to pool his power of darkness and chaos into him. Azurin marched up to the Hall of Oaths in old Albion, his cold sword in hand, and marched up to his wife whilst cutting down every Oathsman who stood in his way in a massacre that would haunt the very land to this day. Upon meeting his wife at the Tower of Promises, he learned that she had their children taken away to be saved from his wrath, the fight between the two of them destroying the tower and collapsing it upon the base of the Hall. Azurin would emerge from the debris the victor, mourning his wife and burying her at the site of what is now known as the Oathgrave.    Upon her burial, he swore a new and final Oath to bring about the end of his wife's god's belief in the temporary, that he would become the new god of death and allow lovers to never suffer grief by age or time or circumstance. He has since then wandered the world, gathering power and undead armies to slowly build towards the destruction of the Raven Queen.
