Worshiped by travelers, farmers, and fishermen, Ibai represents the lifeblood of the land, bringing prosperity to those who respect her domain and punishing those who taint her waters. Temples dedicated to Ibai are often simple shrines by riverbanks, adorned with offerings of flowers, coins, and water-purifying rituals. As a goddess, she symbolizes both the gentle, sustaining flow of life and the unyielding force of nature’s wrath when crossed.Pre Ascension
Before ascending to godhood, Ibai was a humble water priestess from a secluded river village in the lush heartlands of Aldatu. From a young age, she displayed an uncanny connection to water, often seen talking to rivers as if they were old friends. Ibai’s village relied on the river for survival, and she devoted herself to maintaining its flow, cleansing it of impurities, and performing rituals to honor the water spirits that her people believed kept the river alive.Ibai’s life changed drastically when a powerful drought struck the region, drying up rivers and turning fertile land into barren wasteland. Despite her best efforts, the river began to fade, and with it, the hopes of her people. Refusing to give up, Ibai embarked on a perilous journey to find the source of the river, determined to restore its life-giving flow. Along the way, she encountered spirits of the river, ancient beings who tested her resolve and wisdom at every turn. At the river’s source, Ibai discovered that a monstrous spirit of drought had corrupted the waters, siphoning their life force for its own gain. In a desperate struggle, she called upon every ounce of her connection to water, merging her spirit with the river itself to battle the drought spirit. The clash was fierce, and though Ibai emerged victorious, the fight left her on the brink of death, her mortal form dissolving into the waters she loved. Recognizing her sacrifice and the purity of her devotion, the gods elevated Ibai to divinity, transforming her into the new god of rivers. Her essence became one with all flowing waters, ensuring that rivers would forever sustain life and be a source of strength for those who honored them.
