CAMP Session 81 09-30-24
General Summary
Introduction and Initial Setup
In this session, we continue the story of CAMP Season 3, Episode 2 (Session 80 overall). The group is now settled at the school but lacks any long-term plans, while individual members face personal challenges. Corzen is undergoing a religious crisis and has shaved his head, while others, like Esri Korg, are uncertain about their place in the school. In the city, there’s increased activity with students interfering in city matters, leading to notices from authorities asking them not to interfere in the police’s handling of supervillains.
First Days at CAMP
The first week of school unfolds relatively normally by CAMP standards, with a botany class as the focus. Students like Cameo and Rusty are keeping their heads down, focusing on studies, though Rusty is organizing a benefit concert for homecoming. They encounter Bell Wasp, a junior who seems relaxed and carefree but surprisingly wears a shirt, which is unusual for him. When the class begins, the teacher, Mrs. Garcia, seems completely out of her depth, unable to correctly identify plants, leading to suspicion that she may not be qualified. Bell Wasp explains that his mother, Mrs. Garcia, took the job out of desperation after losing her maid position, and Bell Wasp is helping her get through it despite her lack of experience.
Escalating Suspicion and Investigations
As the botany class goes on, some students—especially Ezra—become frustrated by Mrs. Garcia’s incompetence. Ezra and Haguewin begin to suspect something larger is at play, particularly after strange behavior during the first assembly of the school year, where a group of freshmen presented two dangerous criminals. Ezra, along with the others, begins investigating the freshmen, suspecting that something is wrong with their actions and motivations. With Theo’s assistance, the group decides to tail the freshmen.
BBABB Meeting and New Concerns
The BBABB (Beings From Below Against Being Below) meeting is held at the community sanctuary. Sila, the club president, leads the meeting, outlining the group’s three principles: Awareness, Activism, and Justice. However, tension rises when Sylvia Dawnforge, a freshman, questions the group's integrity and criticizes Sila for past actions, including the treatment of Percival Bloom. Sylvia’s harsh critique and hostility toward Sila raise further suspicions about her motives.
Investigation and Entering the Portal
After the BBABB meeting, the group tails Sylvia and her companions to a mysterious house in an area of the city once controlled by the Reptillians. Detecting that the house is an illusion with powerful magic emanating from its basement, the group casts Detect Magic and discovers a portal in the basement, leading them to a strange, circus-like dimension. They hear a sinister voice welcoming them to a "fun time" as they prepare to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
