Terrain: Wetlands
Flooded wetlands dot the Cyric landscape where water sources intrude (like coastlines) or collect among forest areas. The water in wetlands is either freshwater, brackish, or saltwater. All types of wetlands are found including swamps, marshes, bogs, fens, mangroves, peatlands and others. Typical wetlands contain some tree types (sparse or overgrown) like red and silver maple, river birch, ash, cottonwood, swamp white oak, sycamores, willows and the massive bronzewood trees. Heavy plant undergrowth is often broken by plains of water.
Wetland temperatures typically follow the patterns of the biomes they populate, ranging from arctic temperatures to steamy jungle-like conditions.
Alligators, snakes, turtles, newts, salamanders, crayfish, shrimp, mosquitoes, snails, dragonflies, plover, grouse, storks, and herons are typically seen.
Humanoid occupation in these water-logged areas have been primarily gnoll, hobgoblin, lizardfolk, troglodyte, and bullywug. The typical ogre tribes are not present in these areas; there numbers having been replaced by trolls whose physicality is far better suited to the moisture.
