School of Mages
Mages are the most versatile types of wizards, those who choose not to specialize in any single school of magic. This is both an advantage and disadvantage. On the positive side, the mage's selection of spells enables him to deal with many different situations. (Wizards who study within a single school of magic learn highly specialized spells, but at the expense of spells from other areas.) The other side of the coin is that the mage's ability to learn specialized spells is limited compared to the specialist's. Since the center of magic study and development is Appollonia, most mages exist in and around its borders even if they care not to consider themselves a citizen (Appollonia considers all mages citizens, however, it will prosecute mages who work against Appollonia’s interests as traitors and execute them). The generalist mage is also the most common mage in Alcirya, though they are considered the most mundane and inept wizards within the Appollonain power structure. Specialists are held in much higher regard.

Spell Analysis
Universal Magic: Consider universal magic to be Sorcery 101; without the basic spells in this school, wizards are incapable of continuing their studies in the other schools of magic. Therefore, all wizards have access to the spells in this school, regardless of specialization.
