Kharis-Tor
Kharis-Tor (translated giving oneself to the gods through the doorway of Balera’s kingdom) the is the plane of existence upon which the good gods reside. The landscape is made of rugged hills in all directions heavily immersed in thick pine forests. In the midst of the landscape, almost always visibile but miles away, is the halls of the great fortress of Balera which contains the great forge of souls, which can even be seen on the material plane (the sun). Throughout Kharis-Tor, the sound of the works of the great forge bellow as the souls of the worthy are forged into new life forms (usually aasimon) to go forth and do the will of the gods. When a follower of Balera perishes on the mortal plane, his/her spirit is stewarded to Kharis-Tor. They wake up, disoriented, refreshed, and plainly clothed. Soon they seek answers and are presented with a series of tests. The tests are often presented by the avatar that ios worshipped (Beran, Wayn, Theoman), dressed as a plain wanderer who befriends the traveler at the outset. The tests are not designed to decide if the soul is to stay in Kharis-Tor – they are designed to divine which souls have a true warriors heart and to allow them entrance to the great Fortress to be forged into a higher level entity to serve out Balera’s will and fight against the servants of darkness. Those who fail the tests take up residence in Kharis-Tor working the land in harmony and rest.
The only way a spirit can reach Kharis-Tor is at the behest of Orcus, Avatar of Baatu.
