Bread Ingot
Bread loaves were also known as bread ingots because of their shape. The name came from one story of a foundry worker, and the term “bread loaf” is now regarded as a historic term.
The Story
Once there was a foundry worker who thought that at the end of their work shift for the day they would like to buy a bread loaf for the evening. They realised that the bakery would be shut by the time they would leave work for the day. They bought the ingredients and made bread dough. Realising they didn't have the correct baking tin, they used one of the ingot moulds and put it next to the firing chamber. This resulted in the bread being baked. When taking out the bread loaf he declared . . .Look guys, I have made a bread ingotAnd the name stuck.
