Gweraz

The Gweraz is a ritual used to excommunicate Clockmakers. It involves a ritual burning and mutilation of their guild tattoo, as well as administering an injection containing fungal bacteria into their bloodstream.

The bacteria nullifies the effects of the quartz in their blood, making them unable to use their powers. The bacteria eventually begin developing spores inside their veins, causing instability, organ failure, and death.

It is said by folk humourists that these mushrooms that sprout from the corpses have magical and psychoactive properties.

The practice is known as “the growing” and “the greying” in different languages, Gweraz translating to “greying” literally.
