Queen Baltza

Baltza is a former Queen and quicksilver magus from the Ys Empire. She is the only member of the Dead Friends who competes in the Koaneg Eskern tournament and won several times.

Personal history

Baltza's mother was Queen Elixane, the queen of the wasps.
There was a hedge maze involved.
Baltza was a queen in a loveless marriage with a man. They did not get along, and she was a fairly harsh an arrogant person while he was more mellow and likeable. They would argue.
There is a fencing school in Ys, a type of fencing sport that involves you removing one of their senses. So you either blindfold yourself, deafen yourself, or lose your sense of smell and taste. Some go to the extreme and inject an analgesic that causes them to not feel pain. It is a prestigeous sport and form of entertainment, and it is all done anonymously, so both poor and rich can participate. It is a gladitorial fight.
Baltza does this and she meets a rival eventually. This rival is like nothing she has ever faced before and a lot of chemistry builds up between them. They eventually fall in love. 
Then war comes. The neighbouring tribe is planning to sack the Ankou Empire and they are asking the Vespula to join. Baltza does not want to, she is elitist and stubborn, but her rival disagrees. They fight over it. The presiding saint tells Baltza and this rival that they have been selected to perform at her own daughter's wedding.
At this wedding are neighbouring tribe members and it is a crucial time for the queen and king to strike a deal or discuss. But the queen and king cannot be found, and tensions rise.
They go ahead with the performance, after a servant is instructed to give an announcement that the king and queen have both been held up and that they should proceed. The daughter is furious, as this is a wedding between the tribes. Baltza and her rival perform. The more they perform, the more they argue. Things get heated and they chase each other around. Baltza wins the duel, accidentally killing him after he says something inflammatory that hurts her deeply.
When his mask and protective clothes are removed, it is revealed to be the king. Baltza is discovered too, and deposed, and judged for regicide. She is shown no mercy as she was not well-liked. During prison, a prison-keeping friend of hers who fences, Xavier, lets slip that if she wants to live forever, he knows a deamonness.
Baltza agrees, and makes a pact with the gossip to mix her blood with quicksilver and become immortal.

Personality Characteristics

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Baltza is a very good fighter. Despite her tall and large build, she is quite agile and light on her feet. She initially wanted to train to be an orpiment dancer and magus, before she got married and gave up on it partway through. However, she retained that movement and experience and her fighting is said to resemble a dance. Baltza eventually became a quicksilver magus, and uses quicksilver to mind-filter others into being controlled by her. This is not typically able to be done, but because Baltza's blood is made of quicksilver and her body is in tune with it, she can read and control their movements. She will often make them hurt themselves, or use them as a personal cutting board.
She often creates a show of it, much as a performer would than a warrior. Her most fearsome trait is that she is able to do it with fresh corpses, as long as their brain stem is intact.
