Gent
Overview
The history of the Gent is much the same as the history of the Dwarves . This is mainly due in no small part to their parallel societal evolution. Much like the Dwarves, they do not know of their origin point in the world save for the fact that they hale from the Northern Continent of Gorut the same as the Dwarves that they have lived beside since their racial memories began. They are a people very different from the Dwarves in stature though, as most Gent are roughly 7 feet tall if not taller and are often very heavy set people. They are often either entirely hairless or have an entirely white coloration to their hair. They all share the same eye color, that being a vibrant blue with smatterings of gray. The Gent are gentle giants and are not quick to anger. Often most of their disputes are resolved between both themselves and their Dwarven neighbors through diplomatic means. While the Dwarven people are exceedingly happy to be left to their machines and devices within their under mountain fortress cities, the Gent much prefer the open fields and forests of there home. As is stated with the Dwarves, the Gent are also living in the Kingdom of Kardune. It's snowy fields and forests making a great livable environment for the large portion of the Gent people.
Societal History and Governance
The Gent share a very similar structure of society and governance as the Dwarves. They have a Monarchy type of government though, they do listen to the King of the Dwarves and head his words with as much authority as their Queen. Due to their nature within the precarious Diarchy that is Kardune, the Gent are overseen by individual Governors within their own towns, and villages that exist outside of the 7 Major City-States. These Governors are not appointed by the Queen or King and are often either chosen for their ability to lead their people, by their people or fall into the position in a roundabout manner similar to hereditary inheritance. The thought process being that those who are in charge will naturally sire others who are great leaders. Though this form of government seems to work often for the Gent, it is not without it's troubles. Many of the Gent in these smaller towns are looked down upon by their mountain-city living brethren. This has caused a bit of a schism between the Gent in the cities and those outside of them, the ones living in these smaller towns have started to name themselves Argyles, meaning "Outsiders" in their language.
For Players of Gent
The Gent are often seen as gentle giants, and while this may be true for most of them, this is not an inborn trait. Rather, it is a product of the homeland in which they live and the people they are around. Gentle they may be, but when brought to anger they are venerable and ferocious warriors. Having a keen sense for when any magic is currently in use has helped them to develop equally alongside the Dwarves. As such they are invaluable to any team of adventurers that wish to have a sturdy hand, and an innately useful ally. The lifespan of the Gent is approximately 140 years old.
Gent Racial Trait: Gent characters are often limited by their lack of social skills and their innate awkwardness around large crowds. However, what they lack in social graces they make up for in their ability to handle any Mages they come across easier than others. They gain the skill Magicsense at their start and gain +2 Bonus to Will or Power Stat, whichever the player chooses.
