Elder Sei Shí

She was honestly the scariest thing I saw on that mountain, disposing of the... beasts... that nearly killed me with little effort. It seemed like Pharasma sent an agent from beyond the grave to rescue me
— Rescued adventurer

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Sei is extremely fit, her body is very muscular and strong as she is able to push away boulders much bigger than herself with ease. While being over 13 feet tall she is still very agile, being able to dodge a lot of incoming attacks. However instead of having the usual stone grey skin of a stone giant Sei's skin is a pure white, a result of an event in the past she does not like to talk about.

Body Features

Her skin is a pure white and in the right like it makes her look almost like she is a ghost.

Identifying Characteristics

Scars cover the entirety of her body and face from her centuries of ordeals, leaving very little of her unscarred. She is often seen wielding a sword larger than herself, and swings it with ease. Being a stone giant and more that double the height of the more common races she draws a lot of attention in towns and cities.

Special abilities

Sei uses her inner rage to lash out against her enemies, making her hit harder as well as take more of a beating in return. She is very proficient with her sword, seemingly able to empower her hits with different effects depending on the situation.

Specialized Equipment

Sei is not seen without her plate armour on and her over-sized falchion in hand. Her fighting style is unmistakable to the point where some combat schools now teach classes based off her fighting style after seeing Sei fight in arenas and coliseums.

Personal history

Infancy and Adolescence

Sei was born over 700 years ago in the Vrok Mountain Range deep within one of the mountain range's caves, protected by her father, mother and a couple of Shí Tribe warriors.   As soon as she was able to hold a weapon, Sei began to train in the ways of the Barbarian under the guidance of one of the tribes elders. She immediately took a liking to wielding a full sized falchion despite being much shorter than the adults of the tribe. She was labeled as a prodigy, being able to easily hold her own against the adults of the tribe despite only having a few years of training. As Sei grew and continued training she started to dislike the seeming smaller size the weapons she was wielding were becoming and her skills were diminishing as a result. Therefore, when she reached 77 years old her mentor had a larger weapon crafted for her, one that was as proportional to her has the one she was first given and rivaled her height which she immediately felt at home using.

Early Adulthood

Upon reaching adulthood, Sei was a very fearsome warrior and was able to defeat the majority of threats throughout the Vrok Mountain Range. The older giants of the tribe were convinced at this rate she would become one of the greatest warriors the Shí had ever known. Over the next 140 years, Sei dutifully protected her tribe from outside threats, putting down countless beasts and a large number of hostile Huǒ Tribe members. She steadily learnt the geography of the range through scouting missions, after a long while knowing her way perfectly through almost every twisting path and cave in the range.

Discovering the Pool

One day whilst out scouting for the tribe, Sei stumbled across a cave she hadn't been in before, she explored down it into it's depths, defeating the little resistance she met on the way with ease. The cave seemed to twist and turn, seemingly going back in itself. After about an hour of heading down into the depths of the mountains, Sei noticed a glimmering light up ahead and drawing her weapon she cautiously approached. Turning the corner she was met with the sight of a beautiful open cave, crystalline structures decorating the walls while the stone under her feet was a pale white, the source of the light seeming to be the pool of crystal clear water in the middle of the room. Sei was absolutely fascinated while looking about the cave and was naturally drawn to the water, after hesitating for a moment she couldn't help but lean down and put some in her flask before drinking it down. After a few seconds Sei felt immense power flood her body, seeping into every part of her. Her muscles seemed to bulk up a little, she felt lighter on her feet, she felt her resolve strengthen. She was stronger, faster, wiser and... unstoppable.   Sei sat stunned in the cave for a little while before she felt the mountain rumble followed by a mighty roar. A dragon. She quickly backtracked through the cave, needing to get back to their camp to help the children and elderly of the tribe hide. Hide. The word felt wrong to her now. Why should she hide? She obviously had the power to easily defeat one of the dragons now, so why shouldn't she slay it so it doesn't have the chance to bother them again?   Before long she was back at the camp who were swiftly packing up and moving but instead of helping everyone move along she was looking no, hunting, for the dragon. She quickly spotted the dragon she heard in the distance and raced towards it. Members of the tribe called out to her but she ignored it, she wanted this dragon's head on the end of her sword. She engaged in battle with this dragon for nearly an hour, them trading blows but Sei was still standing tall. It was then she saw out of the corner of her eye a small figure hiding in a bush nearby and immediately recognised them as one of the tribes youngest, a young boy named Bato who she had been training in the ways of the barbarian, he was a fierce warrior with a fighting spirit but also liked getting in over his head, which he was no doubt doing yet again having his sword drawn and ready to fight with Sei. He was a fierce fighter for his age, but had a couple hundred years of training to do before he could even consider taking on anything like a dragon, let alone the magically enhanced ones of their homeland. All of this flashed through Sei's head in an instant, looking back at the dragon just in time to see it rearing it's head up, Sei letting out a shriek before it bellowed a cone of fire onto her and the area around her. A moment later, just as the fire cleared she glanced back to where Bato was hiding, seeing the bush gone and a lump of charred lifeless flesh and bones in place of him. In that moment of absolute pure and uncontrolled rage Sei immediately leapt at the dragon, bringing her sword down on it's neck, beheading it, it's body turning limp and lifeless.   Over the next year Sei dwelled on her mistake, only fighting anything that she absolutely needed to to keep her tribe safe, she stopped caring about hunting, about scouting or just enjoying herself in general. She very much blamed herself for Bato's death and regretted going after that dragon. Others in the tribe blamed her too, while yes she was able to defeat it, it was still an extremely reckless thing to do and the decision was paid for by a life not of her own. After heavy consideration Sei decided she would exile herself from the tribe for 300 years to pay for her mistake that day and so that night under the cover of darkness she left the Vrok Mountain Range not to return for three centuries.

A Self-Imposed Exile

After leaving the mountains Sei travelled through the lands, passing through many small towns and villages and causing a little panic as a large majority of the residents of said towns hadn't seen a stone giant before and immediately thought she was there to attack, though some careful talking and after pulling a few arrows from her flesh Sei was able to get them to stop attacking her and leave her be. This happened nearly every time she came by a new settlement of people.   When she reached a rather large dwarven city known as Nilrum, after spending a few nights staying in an inn in the city she was approached by a rather short dwarven man who offered a rather large sum of gold in order to fight in his coliseum. She soon accepted, fighting in the coliseum and staying in the city for a few years where she quickly became a household name, being undefeated for all that time and defeating her beast foes with ease. However after a few years she became bored, nothing was a challenge, she wanted to feel the thrill of the hunt again and therefore she soon left Nilrum searching for something else, something bigger and better.   After about 6 months of searching she finally found what she wanted, a small band of adventurers who seemed to have a knack at getting themselves in precarious and life threatening situations. So the stone giant joined the sentient construct, tiny fey and oddly friendly lich in their adventures. All that is known about Sei's time with this party are whispers and rumors. Some say they went around killing bandits and liberating the oppressed while some say they did battle with gods and demons. Whichever stories may be true, fairy-tales of the Giant, Robot, Fey and Lich are not uncommon all throughout Aladris, the four of them clearly making a greatly positive impact on the world told to have rescued many from destruction. During the years she was with this adventuring party Sei was involved in an incident that changed her stony grey skin to a pure white. When asked she never really answers how it became that way or if any of the many stories about her travels are true or false.   Over the next couple hundred years Sei went out adventuring with various people and by herself, completing missions for various guilds and people eventually making a small fortune for herself, spending it on improvements for her gear and donating a lot of it to orphanages and charitable causes.

Return to the Mountains

After her 300 years of self-imposed exile had passed, Sei packed up all her belongings and headed back to the Vrok Mountain Range to rejoin her tribe. She may not have wanted the shame of going back but she had to due her duty and protect her tribe once more. Upon arriving back at the range Sei quickly tracked down members of her tribe, these members just happened to be rather young, having being born after Sei left and mistook her for a member of the Huǒ Tribe and subsequently attacked her. After very quickly overpowering and disarming the younger two and explaining the situation she head over to their main camp. After yet again 'explaining' she was not a member of the Huǒ Tribe to some of the younger members she met up with the tribes elders where she was greeted with open arms because they started sharing stories of the past 300 years. Sei was distraught when she heard that her mentor had passed, shedding tears for the first time in centuries as she reminisced of her time training under him.   Sei was then subsequently sworn back into the tribe and promised to stand as it's protector for many many years to come.

Sei trained extensively with her elders as a child to learn the ways of the barbarian and control her inner rage and use it against her enemies instead of lashing out against her peers. She also studied under the scholars of the Shí Tribe for about 80 years in order to learn as much as she could about the Vrok Mountain Range so she could protect her tribe and fight off any threats. While not learning much and being unable to read and write, she still absorbed as much information as she could and uses it in her day to day life in order to identify nearby potential threats.
