Merrymeet

The 20th of Ehl- Merrymeet was held on the last day of spring and was a final opportunity to gain the blessings of Ehlonna. Merrymeet is a festival of courting and love. During the celebration the Merrymeet brides and Merrymeet grooms are chosen from the eligible single people in a community and lots are drawn to pair them together. They are then guided through an accelerated courting process of cooperative games and conversation through the day and night culminating in a group wedding and celebration after. The wedding is non binding but relationships often develop between brides and grooms. Brides who prefer brides and grooms who prefer grooms have their own choosing ceremony alongside the main tradition. This celebration largely fell out of practice when Ehlonna fell. Some communities still celebrate though in hopes that Ehlonna can be returned to her proper place.
