Heroes' Alliance

Previously Known as the adventurers' Guild The Heroes' Alliance never really had a true founding. It grew organically from the tendency of Questing bands of persons to work together toward common goals. For centuries the Adventurers' guild was simply an idea that similarly minded people could be called upon by citizens to help solve problems. the first coordinated plan came during the Age of the Mage when Dravin Bearskin had the idea to place notice boards in large towns and villages where town folk could place written requests to any adventurers in town. These boards became known as Job Boards. The postings would contain contact information, a small summary of the job being requested and an offering of pay or trade for the service. Dravin traveled extensively through Jeloon and Riven and The Sacred Lands of Fellowship even getting into the north of Navati to place these job boards. For the first time an organized structure had been put in place for the etherial Adventurers' guild. An interesting thing happened soon after the installation of the job boards, firstly in Qual'Ta'Pedor then all over; People began burying small packages directly under the job boards to place job request that weren't strictly legal, this allowed the jobs to be listed but not to be obvious to the law keepers. Eventually this practice led to the creation of the Moulin Rouge, Thieves Guild, and Allied Assassin Association among others. Some time later, again in Jeloon, the first Adventurers' Depot was built by a retired adventurer named Dolli Opilen. She knew her adventuring days were behind her but still wanted to feel part of the community she had grown so close to. Her depot was a place adventurers could congregate, swap stories, drink, sleep, gear up and most importantly team up. The Jobs board in this town, called Aardvark Pass was just outside of her Depot so she became the unofficial custodian of it. And as such she would vet all the quests being offered. She would speak with the citizen making the post and determine how difficult the task being requested was. She'd then mark the "opportunity" with a suggested challenge rating from 1-5, 5 being novice adventurers could manage the task and 1 being deadly to even the most seasoned adventurers. The next evolution came from the creation of the first adventurers guild council. Dolli's influence and reach had grown far and wide and it helped that her challenge rating system had saved the lives of many newbie adventurers by encouraging them to not tackle a difficult task short handed. When The first council was to be chosen her inclusion was automatic. In total 9 councilors were selected. each faction of adventurer had 3 councilors. there were 3 councilors representing new adventurers with fewer than 10 years questing, there were 3 councilors representing experienced adventurer with more than 10 years adventuring, and there were 3 councilors representing retired adventurers whom had adventured at least 20 years. These 9 councilors began the process of organizing and codifying the Adventurer's guild. They set up a lose set of bylaws and membership criteria, never wanting to alienate newcomers. Dolli's depot idea was expanded and duplicated into major cities and towns all over the continent and eventually all over the world. These Guild Halls would be used, as the depot had, to gather and recruit but also as a resource for citizens to hire directly. The guild halls began taking payment for quests directly with promise of full refund if the quest was not complete by the time needed. The guild would then find worthy adventurers to complete the task and pay them directly, keeping a 10% commission for themselves. In this way the Adventurers guild was able to grow and expand and survive through massive catastrophes and world events. it is believed the Adventurers Guild holdings worldwide dwarf the richest kingdoms. The most recent group of councilors voted 6 to 3, with all 3 retired members voting against, to change the name from the Adventurers Guild to the Heroes' Alliance. This name has yet to catch on despite massive attempts to popularize it.
