Akram (city-state)

The city-state of Akram consists of the city of Akram itself and its surrounding surface territories.

Demography and Population

Most of the civilized races have some presence in Akram though the majority of its people are human with dwarves and elves being the next most common races.

Territories

Akram's territories consist of the city itself and also encompasses some of the surface terrain beneath the city. Its surface territories are centered around the Ranger's Gate.

Military

Akram's main security and military force is the Akram Rangers. They are tasked with not only defending the city and its surface territory but also with exploration of the surface and communicating with surface dwellers.

In times of grave danger the city can also call upon Church of The Undying Soldier to deploy its clergy who are each trained in the art of combat.

Religion

Akram allows free worship of any of the deities within the Akram Pantheon. Worship of any gods outside this pantheon is done in secret and at a great risk.

Foreign Relations

The orc village of Luztog and the Yuan-ti Caves are the first surface settlements that have been absorbed into the surface territories of Akram. Both are considered protectorates of Akram. In exchange for this protection Luztog provides food and supplies to the Ranger's Gate while the Yuan-ti Caves provide their divination magics to the Akram Rangers.

It is likely that the these settlements would officially pledge fealty to Akram if the offer was made available as being under the protection of the Akram Rangers has allowed them to thrive compared to other surface dwellers. The only reason such an offer has not yet been made is that the Lord's Council is hesitant to offer a large group of surface dwellers citizenship as that would grant them the rights to enter the city as they pleased.
