Monsterkind
Monsters are races once pure and magical, now ruined and wretched. They are twisted and spiteful beings. Monsters come in many shapes and sizes but what most of them have in common is their bloodthirst and sadism. One might run into a pack of violently deviant goblins, or smack into the brutal savagery of an orc, or be unfortunate enough to get caught in the trap of a sadistically cruel troll. One might even awaken on a cold operating table under the soul-less gaze of squid-faced illithid.
All breeds of monsterkind have cultures counter to the civilized soul - cultures of violence, chaos and destruction. Whether overt or through subterfuge, all monsterkind seeks to sew discord and disrupt order in the natural world. Monsters are the sworn enemy of all civilized kingdoms and peoples.
The Undead
The curtain between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead is fragile and shifting. There is a dark energy known as Undeath that infects the spaces inbetween, seeping corrupted magica where the boundaries are weak. Undeath moves into the dark and cold places, broken and forsaken, and bring the cruel mockery of life to the lifeless.
Undead can be as simple as a mindless puppet skeleton, to a fully actualized monstrosity or shade in from the spiritual realm, such as a curse-bound specter or life-stealing wraith. All undead are abominations and an affront to life, truth and order, and therefore suffer doubly from sun magica.
Beasts
As the blight of Fomor turned pure race into monsterkind, so it altered the flora and fauna. Some fantastical breeds of animals emerged as a result. Dire beasts are monstrously large versions of ordinary animals, such as bears or wolves or owls. Some breeds came through from other realms like sage owls from the celestial realm, or mist wolves from the shadowlands. Still others are magical mutations, cross breeds such as the noble griffon or the valiant pegasus.
Elementals
All beings from the prime elemental planes are considered elementals, whether they are twisting pillars of fire or magma molded drumdar in suits of dark iron. Earth, water, wind and fire comprise the four prime elemental planes.
The Demonic
In the realms of the dead, the Hells are damned. One for lustful indulgence, one for corruption and ruin, one for rage, hate and murder, and still another for paranoid insanity. Jezebel, Beelzebub, Kane and Azazel are their respective demonic lords. The spoiled and despotic demons coming from the Hells can be tiny as an imp or as massive as a raging adonis.
