Emdros - God of Thunder

Emdros is a Minor God of Thunder in Akeroth. He is the Twin Brother of Sifor but was not given a place as a Major God due to his struggles wielding the power granted to him. He is often depicted as a powerful and violent deity, wielding the power of thunder and lightning. In many tales, Emdros is associated with the sea and is thought to control the winds and waves. He is often invoked by sailors seeking protection from storms, and is also revered by farmers who rely on his wrath to bring much needed rain to their crops. Despite his fearsome reputation, Emdros is also seen as a fair and just god, who punishes only those who have earned his wrath.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Emdros was born the twin brother of Sifor, God of the Sun, and grew up in the shadow of his more powerful sibling. From a young age, Emdros was overshadowed by his brother's radiant light and brilliant warmth. While Sifor was adored and revered by all who knew him, Emdros struggled to find his place in the world.   Despite this, Emdros never resented his brother, and instead devoted himself to mastering the power of storms. He spent countless hours studying the winds and the clouds, learning to harness the power of thunder and lightning. Over time, he became a master of these elements, and was able to summon fierce storms at will.   Despite his impressive abilities, Emdros remained overshadowed by his brother's greatness. But he took comfort in the fact that he was still able to make his own mark on the world, bringing much needed rain to the fields and protecting sailors from the dangers of the sea.   To this day, Emdros continues to live in the shadow of his twin brother, but remains a powerful and respected god in his own right. He may not be as radiant as Sifor, but his power over the storms is not to be underestimated.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

For good or ill, Emdros exists as a disruptive force. He doesn’t desire authority over other gods and, in fact, doesn’t particularly enjoy their company. Emdros finds satisfaction in investing bright mortals with prescient visions to see how they adapt. Those who prove themselves decisive and intelligent earn his grudging respect and continued blessings of precognition. He finds satisfaction not only in granting insight but also in expressing the awesome fury of the storm. Where others see only chaos and destruction in storms, he sees them as shaping the firmament in ways that challenge and engage mortals. His blasts of lightning set house and forest ablaze, thus rendering the soil clear for new life and new creations. His is a vision he alone is equipped to see. He is content to watch his divine kinfolk scheme and plot while he looks on, stern and inscrutable.
