Elemental Dream

"Many consider the drug 'Elemental Dream', 'Dream', or 'Mental', to be the second greatest scourge to our world, just behind the Great Millennium War. This Narcotic, which is derived from a mixture of Elemental Magic and Dragon's Blood, grants a euphoric high, and the feeling of being charged with the element related to the mixture you either smoked, swallowed, or injected. In reality, the Dragon's Blood and Magic infused with the substance of choice are granting the user resistance to the element, while also allowing them to cast a first-level spell from the Paladin and Cleric Spell Lists that correlates with the element, which they cannot do again until another dose is taken. For many, 'Mental' is drank, eaten, or smoked in liquid form through unique Hookahs or other Water Pipes, giving a more relaxing and elated high that overpowers the elemental intensity. But the most common way Mental is taken is via impromptu injection, smeared on blades or sharp objects, and stabbed into a minor vein, allowing for near-instant activation and a more intense charged feeling that often gives an extreme confidence and aggression boost.   "While this all sounds rather great and beneficial to society and war, what the dealers don't tell you is how addictive Mental is and how harmful it is to one's body if smoked or injected. Withdrawals are excruciating, with the most common symptoms being vomiting, exhaustion, migraines, and a feeling of depression. If smoked it can create deposits of elemental energy in your windpipe and lungs, building up until you can hardly breathe and are constantly coughing up blood. Injections cause these same buildups in the heart and brain over time, causing arrhythmia, symptoms of heart attacks, various forms of mental illness, and, in extreme cases, complete stopping of the heart due to blockages. Beyond all that, even, long-time addicts can be easily identified by their appearance changing to resemble Genasi, but in far more varied forms than the three known races of Genasi.   "
