Archivist
The third level within the Archive belongs to members who are no longer considered initiates and are full-fledged members. While they still often have a member or mentor above them, it is much less of a teaching relationship and more of a dual discovery relationship. Archivists are required to check in via official correspondence with their partnered member for safety, as they often find themselves in remote or dangerous areas researching different aspects of Akara. Often they also report what they find and discuss their discoveries and how it impacts the guild.
At this level, many archivists choose a region or specialty they wish to pursue. While not a rule of the Archive, many find themselves naturally drawn to specific places or research topics. There are little in the ways of restriction when it comes to Archive research.
This is also the stage where members are allowed to take on their own mentees to teach the research methods to as they first enter the Archive. They teach the basic education and also take on a mentee to shadow them and help with research. While it is not required for an Archivist to take someone in right away, it is expected that they will eventually help bring in the next generation of researchers, as it is required to advance to the next rank. However, some spend many years in their own research before they feel ready to help pass on the knowledge of the Archive.
To advance out of the Archivist position, the requirements are the same as every rank; their assigned member must feel they are ready, and they must have discovered something no one else has. At this level, the discovery must be rather substantial: a new species, a lost civilization, or something of the like. In addition, at this level they must have taken a mentee before they can advance to the level of lorekeeper.
