Jazerant
A variant type of Mail armor. Usually an underlayer of padded or quilted cloth and an outer layer of soft leather or quilted cloth that mail has been sewn between. This armor typically covers the torso, upper arms to near the elbow, and upper legs to just above the knee. A second separate legs armor, to make a full suit, is certainly possible; however, Mail Chausses are much more common, practical, and chosen.
Jazerant was more comfortable to wear, and wealthy patrons would embellish their armor with elaborate silk stitching and brocade to stand out as a result of their status or station. Jazerant was also referred to as Kazaghand in Ottoman, and Mameluke usage, and was typically used by Cavalry.
