The Confluence Bloom Festival

Each year, as spring awakens the land and the three rivers—Whistlebranch, Hollowmere, and Grainrun—overflow with fresh meltwater, the town of Three Streams comes alive with the Confluence Bloom, a week-long celebration of renewal, abundance, and community. Held at the peak of the season when the wildflowers bloom in a dazzling patchwork across the fields, the festival is both a sacred rite and a jubilant gathering that draws folk from across the Eldergrove Plains.

Components and tools

  • The Blooming Path: On the first day, villagers and visitors alike walk barefoot through flower-lined trails that follow the three streams, ending at the point where they merge. Along the way, participants scatter seeds and offer petals into the water, symbolizing hope, harmony, and growth.
  • The Riverfire Ceremony: On the third night, lanterns made from colored reeds and beeswax are set afloat on the confluence under a twilight sky. Each lantern carries a written wish or prayer, and the glowing waters are said to guide those hopes to the spirits of the land.
  • Petal Games & Harvest Trials: Friendly competitions are held in the fields: sack races, basket-weaving, herbal knowledge contests, and relay harvest games. Children compete to make the longest flower garlands, while farmers test their skills in friendly produce showdowns.
  • The Gathering Table: On the festival’s final night, the entire town gathers for a communal feast set on long wooden tables spanning the riverside. Dishes made with the season’s first harvest—fresh greens, root vegetables, and sweet breads—are shared alongside songs, dances, and stories of old.
