Lowlands

East of the Ragged Coast, the cliffs peter out, replaced by narrow, gravel strands and broad salt marshes. The Lowlands lie between this coast and the High Downs, a range of hills which divide this region from the Howling Plains. This region is most notable for the herds of pigs which roam the marshes. There are no fewer than three distinct types of Lowland swine. The mudhogs are small, by the standards of the region, swamp-dwelling foragers, hunted for their meat. The various breeds of pasture swine are domesticated, kept for milk and meat, the source of the near-legendary Darklands bacon. Finally, the monstrous great swine are allowed to roam feral, and provide mounts for some of the most feared cavalry in the world, once a warrior can captrue and train one.
The capital of this region is the Hollow, a city built both on and inside the largest hill in the Downs. The outer city is the domain of the Swine King, who has authority not only over domestic law and security, but all mudhogs and pasture swine. In the inner city, the Salt Queen holds court, plans out foreign policy, and musters the dreaded Boarhost. All untamed great swine belong to her.
