Kua-toa

The deepest dwelling Seafolk of all are the kuo-toa, with their fish-like heads. Some have tails, but many have webbed feet, as they live in part in airlocked deep-sea caves which connect to the Underhollows. Here, many of their shoals have fallen into the power of the outerfolk or been twisted by adherence to Abyssal masters.

Kuo-toa and identity

Kuo-toa do not see themselves in terms of gender, viewing sex as a purely mechanical - and somewhat communal - function for the sake of the shoal. They identify themselves much more strongly according to their position within the shoal's complex web of status.
