The driving force of the Dark Lords and of the Legions was always Ugulath, the first and greatest of the Thirteen. Ugulath was the one whose will bound the other twelve together, and who laid out a plan for a universal empire. She it was who shaped the Darklands and the Godsgarden within it, and created the banners for their servants to fly. She was the Imperiatrix, ultimate power, and was served by all Legions and none. As such, her personal banner was only ever flown by a single Cohort, the Rising Storm, who controlled Godsgarden, protected the Giver, and enforced her will on the other Legions.
As she was the first among the Thirteen in life, so Ugulath was the first to fall. She was slain by her own Manus, who thrust the white-hot blade of Tatters and Ashes into her heart to complete the creation of the Godkillers.
